It was a ugly game from the word go. The plate umpiring was atrocious killing both starting pitchers. UWA boys are lucky that they scored 6 in the 1st because these were the only runs we scored for the game. Miss read signals were costly and bad base running cost us opportunities to score. If this team wants to play finals they really need to pull their fingers out and stop pretending they know how to play baseball. It is a team game where 9 players need to do the team thing. swinging at first pitch after an out or a walk is selfish and undisciplined. Not putting a ball to the right side with runners in scoring position is not good enough. On a brighter note I would like to say well done Buckley on pitching through some terrible umpiring conditions to keep Kelmscott scoreless. Hopefully we will be switched on ready to play next week.

With several players unavailable (Shane and CJ) and PL3 missing some as well we had to shuffle the teams around Sunday morning at 9am. Maybe this had an adverse effect on the team but really we weren't switched on from the first pitch. Crucial errors and wild throws resulted in Kelmscott leading 10 - 0 after 3 innings. Missed signals also went against us with Kelmscott turning 2 double plays - undoing some good at bats from the few who came to play. We will rectify that next week.....

Some positives from the game were Tim's effort catching and Thom's improvement on the hill and the homer in the last dig, while Andrew and Max did what was required in the batters box. Jeremy and Paul also made a couple of tough outfield catches.

Walks and HPB's again hurt us, giving up at least 12 free rides for the opposition. No wonder we lost but all hope is not gone. We are a better side than we sometimes think and we need to put all that training into practice, starting next Sunday morning.
