PR 1 UWA 9 def Curtin 4

After learning a hard lesson last week the boys came prepared to play this week. Ryan Eldred started on the hill and pitched 5 solid innings. Curtin were unable to string hits together and the boys did a hell of a job backing their pitcher in the field. Buckley and Liam took some great diving catches in the outfield and Mostyn and Josh kept the left side strong not letting anything through.
The fielding was great but the batting this week was better all nine hitters played a part in moving runners around the diamond and driving runs in. Josh and Mostyn lead the way with the bat picking up 3 hits each. Great way to bounce back after a tough loss, now we need to focus on Kalamunda and getting the points on the board.

PR 2 UWA 23 def Curtin 3

Another solid team performance with us scoring 12 runs in the first dig to put the game beyond doubt early. We had 21 hits, 7 walks and a few Curtin errors from good hard hitting and (mostly) waiting for a good strike to hit. Macca (2) Jacques (2) and Michael (1) did very well on the hill to keep Curtin down to only 3 runs and defensively we made outs when it counted. Thanks to CJ for catching the last 3 digs even with a hangover.

Hooks showed the way with the bat going 4 from 4 with a Sac-fly and Dave crunched one over the fence. Unfortunately, Jacques spoiled his perfect record at bat with an out in his last trip to the plate but by then the zone got bigger so we had to swing at anything close.

Play of the day: There were 2. Michael's ground ball at 3rd was fantastic and Jacques caught a foul fly that only he could have got to.

DS award (or pinky) goes to Tony Hyams for being the first and second out in the first dig.

Well done guys. Kalamunda next week at home.

Kelmscott
7 - 3

PR 3 UWA 7 def Kelmscott 3

PR3's played Kelmscott at their home cow paddock and won a close game 7-3 after scoring 3 runs in the final dig. Their second ground was a joke with Shaun Major disappearing from view for several seconds when he fell into a large hole trying to steal second. Shaun survived getting picked off as they weren't quite sure where he was until he emerged near 2nd base.

Jeremy Faux pitched the whole game for 11 strikeouts and 5 walks, with only one earned run ..from a girl's hit mind you. They had some good young pitchers throwing quick stuff, and got 5 solid hits to our 3 scattered ones for the whole game. Two of their hits came from girls... one of whom had a beard... but nice tits... Confusing feelings with our young guys! I don't think anyone in the top half of our batting line up got a hit, but we got more walks than Kelmscott. With guys on base, easy steals (look out for the hole!) and lots of pass balls, we just scored more than them by the end of the game.

We therefore managed to win by having more disciplined batting, albeit with some interesting base running demonstrations. Looking forward to playing back in civilisation next week with a renewed appreciation of our Mcgilivray groundsman. Thank you Jeremy for a gutsy 135-pitch winning game... (Even though those "women" hit your good stuff out of the ground). Jeff & Mark Wall, Max Alveiro, Matthew and Chris all contributed to a good away win. There's Lots more to learn however..
