PR 1 UWA 13 def Rockingham 4
This game was always going to be crucial in setting up the PL1 season. Rockingham have had a good record against UWA for the past few seasonsand this was always going to be a tough outing. Ash Hutchison started on the bump and chucked 4 solid innings conceding only 2 runs. The boys did a fantastic job with the bats scoring in each inning. Hitting was first class this week with all batters challenging the Rock pitchers. The best of the batters were Josh (3 hits), Mostyn (3 hits) and Ryan (2 hits). Buckley continues to work hard on the hill and did an excellent job in relief. Play of the day goes to the Major leap to save a pass ball and complete the out. Who said white men can't jump. |

PR 2 UWA 11 def by Rockingham 23
Baseball is a very simple game in some respects. Your pitcher throws strikes, their batters hit the ball, our fielders take the catch or make a good throw to the base. Whoever makes the least amount of errors and whoever hits the ball harder usually wins the game.
The stats last Sunday don't lie. We had 11 hits and so did Rockingham. We were given 3 walks and gave up countless (at least 15) free rides to first base to the opposition. They made 1 error while we made 7 errors. Therefore Rockingham won 23-11.
Next week we will find someone who can throw strikes and we will make good throws (more often than not) and we will get back to the winners list. We should all forget the defensive side of our last game and focus on what we did well and that was a good performance with the bat. If we keep scoring 10 + runs per game we always have a chance.
Play of the day was Thom's triple and dummy spit award to the (now retired) coach.
